During 12-14 November 2024, a delegation of the Competition Council of the Republic of Moldova, led by Diana Lapteacru, vice-president of the Competition Council, participated in a seminar dedicated to the topic of state aid, organized in a series of regional events. The seminar, held in Brasov, Romania, brought together competition and state aid experts from several states, including the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine, together with experts from Romania.

During the event, the employees of the Competition Council of the Republic of Moldova presented the experience of our country in aligning the existing state aid schemes with the European legal regulations, in the panel dedicated to negotiations for accession to the European Union.

“Participation in this event is a valuable opportunity to strengthen our efforts towards European integration. The seminar dedicated to the challenges in the field of state aid allowed us to learn from the experience of Romania, Poland and Slovakia, countries that have successfully completed the path of accession to the European Union. The exchange of best practices is important for a better understanding of the complexity of our processes and the adjustment of our regulations and mechanisms to European standards. In this context, we are grateful to the organizers and our partners in Romania for the support and expertise offered”, said the vice-president of the Competition Council, Diana Lapteacru.

The event in Brasov is part of a series of activities organized under the presidency of the Competition Council, within the Memorandum of regional cooperation in the field of competition policy. After the Round Table of the Presidents of the competition authorities in Bucharest and the Competition Seminar in Suceava, the seminar in Brasov is the third event in 2024 that aims to contribute to the capacity building of the competition authorities in Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova, supporting them in the process of European integration.

From 2025, the presidency of the Memorandum will be taken over by the Slovak competition authority.
