Implementation of the CEFTA commitments regarding state aid and competition discussed in the Republic of Macedonia

From July 17^th to 18^th, 2018, the Competition Council s delegation participates in the meeting of the representatives of the CEFTA member countries (Central European Free Trade Agreement), which is held in Skopje, Republic of Macedonia.

The event addresses issues related to the implementation of the CEFTA Agreement s commitments regarding ​​state aid and competition. In this respect, the representatives of the Competition Council presented the results obtained especially in the elaboration of the primary and secondary normative acts according to the community acquis. Additionally, there were presented the objectives of the National Competition and State Aid Program, which has the status of a legislative act, the representatives of the similar authorities of the CEFTA member states presented a great interest regarding the experience of the Competition Council.

In order to ensure a good cooperation between the CEFTA countries, it was proposed to create a platform to exchange information in state aid and competition domain.

CEFTA is a commercial agreement for free trade of goods that was signed on December 21^st, 1992 in Cracow, the founding members are Poland, Czechoslovakia and Hungary. The purpose of this agreement is to adapt the economies of the member states to a community market free of custom taxes and an exercise to pre-accession to the European Union.
