March 11, 2025, Chișinău – The Competition Council held a working meeting today with the national business community, dedicated to identifying measures that may require transitional periods in the negotiation process for Chapter 8 – Competition Policy.

The event brought together representatives of business associations, the Moldovan Bankers’ Association, and the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization.

The discussions focused on analyzing the relevant legislative provisions, identifying compliance deadlines, and setting priorities to ensure an efficient and balanced alignment process with the EU acquis.

“This exercise is essential to ensuring a fair and feasible transition to European competition rules. Consultations with the business community allow us to better understand the challenges and to establish a realistic compliance framework,” stated Alexei Gherțescu, President of the Competition Council.

The meeting is part of a series of strategic consultations aimed at contributing to the development of a well-founded negotiating position to advance the Republic of Moldova’s accession to the European Union.
