On Friday, 28 March 2025, the President of the Competition Council, Alexei Gherțescu, held a meeting with a delegation from the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise, an organisation representing over 60,000 companies across various economic sectors in Sweden.

The discussions focused on the importance of a fair competitive environment from the perspective of attracting foreign investment. By ensuring transparent and predictable market conditions, reducing artificial barriers, and preventing anti-competitive practices, the Republic of Moldova becomes more attractive to investors. Thus, fair competition provides equal opportunities for all market players, contributing to sustainable economic growth and the diversification of foreign investments.

In this context, the role of the competition authority becomes essential for maintaining a fair competitive environment. Through timely interventions and cooperation with the business community, the Council can ensure a healthy balance between fostering competition and enforcing mechanisms to prevent and combat anti-competitive practices, thereby creating a favorable economic ecosystem for the development of long-term investments.

„A fair and transparent competitive environment not only safeguards the legitimate interests of consumers but also establishes a solid foundation for attracting foreign investment. Through cooperation, we can develop effective mechanisms to ensure healthy competition, benefiting both entrepreneurs and the national economy,” stated Alexei Gherțescu.
