On 21 September 2023, the President of the Competition Council, Alexei GHERȚESCU, participated in the event dedicated to “Judicial Review of Competition Decisions in the EU”, organized within the International Workshop “Fundamentals of EU Competition Law”.
The President of the Competition Council presented to the public the new provisions of the Competition Law No. 183/2012, which entered into force on 18 September 2023, the enforcement systems of competition law and shared the existing challenges in the application of competition law by the courts.
Discussions covered both the prospects and challenges for the competition authority in the context of enforcement of competition law by the courts, as well as issues related to ensuring the confidentiality of communications between enterprises and their lawyers.
The workshop, which aimed to discuss relevant aspects of enforcement of competition law in the EU and the Republic of Moldova, brought together competition law experts, public administration employees, judges and academics from Croatia, Italy, Albania and the Republic of Moldova. Thus, experience and practice in the field were shared by Dubravka AKŠAMOVIĆ, Professor, and Tunjica PETRASEVIC, Professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Osijek, Croatia, Emiliano MARCHISIO, Associate Professor in Commercial Law, Giustino Fortunato University of Benevento, Italy, Petrina BROKA, Lecturer, Faculty of Law of Tirana, Albania, Natalia BALABAN, Chairman of the Council of the Training Centre of UAM, Angela BOSTAN, Judge at the Chisinau Court of Appeal and Olesea PLOTNIC member of the Jean Monnet South and East European Competition Law Center of Excellence.
The event is organised by the SEE Competition Law Center of Excellence in cooperation with the Henri Capitant Association.
