On February 25, 2025, the Competition Council of the Republic of Moldova hosted the second meeting of the Steering Committee of the Twinning Project on “Strengthening the Institutional Capacities of the Competition Council to Enforce Competition and State Aid Policy in Line with the Best EU Practices.”
The event aimed to assess the progress and results achieved during the first four months of project implementation and to plan future strategic actions. It brought together representatives from the EU Delegation, the Romanian Competition Council (Project Leader), and the competition authorities of Poland and Lithuania (Junior Project Leaders).
The meeting began with acknowledgments addressed to the Competition Council of the Republic of Moldova for the successful completion of the screening process in Brussels, a significant milestone in the country’s path toward accession to the European Union.
On this occasion, the parties involved reaffirmed their commitment to continuing close cooperation to achieve the key objectives of the Project.
The Twinning Project, launched on October 1, 2024, has a duration of 27 months. Its overall objective is to strengthen the internal market of the Republic of Moldova by ensuring the effective implementation and enforcement of competition and State aid policies in line with the EU acquis. In doing so, the project aims to promote fair competition, market integrity, and the protection of legitimate consumer interests in the Republic of Moldova.
